Serenity now. Serenity NOW!

In an attempt to inject a little serenity into my life, I’ve decided to start getting up an hour earlier in the mornings.  The one thing I liked best about working later shifts was I had all that time to ease into the idea of my day.  I’d make a pot of coffee, grab a bagel, listen to a little music or meditate (when I was going through that Buddhist phase).  I had time to tinker with my hair, and do my makeup properly.

Then I started working mornings, and all that pre-work serenity went out the window.  It was get up and get going, like, now!  Some days I’m in such a rush I show up with my hair still damp.

Not.  Cute.

So I’m doing this new thing, hoping to reclaim a little “Me Time” in the mornings.  (Like a total lame-ass) I’ve got all my clothes set out, all the accompanying jewelry on the nightstand.  I figured out how to set my coffee maker to brew fresh Starbucks in the morning, and there are headphones next to the lappy so I can listen to something upbeat over coffee.

No bagels, though.

I forgot the bagels.

D’oh!

Oh well, I’ve still got Buddha.

Good for you. If I wake up at 6:00 am (instead of my usual 7:30), I look amazing at work. Usually I'm don't. Sleep trumps glamor most days. You're inspired me though. Thank you!

I'm totally the same way...up and at 'em! I pack lunches (for hubs and I-no kids) the night before, set out workout clothes, everything in a pile so I can grab and run out the door! Good luck getting back your "me time."

This is the second time in as many days that I've heard somebody say "serenity now"! Weird world we live in. :) I like this idea but unfortch I am terrible at it. I love me some sleep. That's why I look forward to Saturdays -- although now that coffee in excess is out for me, they aren't quite the same. :(

Ugh. Hopefully it's easy for you to wake up in the mornings. As wonderful as that sounds, come morning, I am willing to forgo that hour for some sleep.

I totally agree! Rushed mornings= a bad day!!! I totally set out my clothes with jewelry, undies, and shoes the night before too! It totally helps!

I know what you mean (by the way, landed here via Curvy's web site!). I'm not much of a morning person myself and having to be at work at 9 is not easy. But I've adjusted some patterns to allow me to ease into the mornings (like you said, putting the clothes out the day before has definitely been helpful!). I also shower at night now and if I'm thinking clearly at the end of the day I'll prepare my lunch so I can grab and go in the AM.
