Seems I Got A Little Loosey-Goosy With The Subscribe Feature.

Blogging is serius bizness. Not only is it the writing, rewriting, editing, photo-finding/editing, posting, re-reading, re-editing and then re-posting. It's also seeking out fellow bloggers, leaving comments and finding other ways to shamelessly promote yourself without alienating anyone else. It's a full time job on top of a full time job, and sometimes the little things in life slip through the cracks.

Such as not noticing that it looks like Hurricane Laundry (Category 4) rolled through your bedroom.

EEP!

Perhaps it's time to take a couple steps away from the keyboard and set some stuff straight.

That's better.

Hey, did you happen to notice the testimony to my gnat-like attention span in the room? I mean, aside from all of it?

It's the stack of four unread magazines sitting on the shelf.

Four doesn't seem like such a big deal, unless you take into account the fact that I've acquired all four of them in the same two week span.

Through the mail.

Then the bills for the subscriptions came.

Ooooh yeah! I'd forgotten about that!

Seems magazine subscriptions via the internet should be a little harder to get. Perhaps Conde Naste Publications should include an "Are you sure you have the kind of time to read all these magazines?" button. You know, like G-Mail's drunken e-mail filter. I was high on the idea of being privy to all that fashion news. Now all my fashion news is making an awesome $30 per year coaster.

Perhaps this calls for a new feature here at Heart & Hairspray. "This Month's Mail." It'll be a monthly blog where I gather up and then review all the random magazines and offers I'd signed up for via the internet that month. Apparently when you subscribe to stuff online you find yourself also subscribed to things like the ugly cookbook catalog I received today.

I didn't know people existed in the world who still think the country goose motif is a good idea.

Whew! Glad that hurricane didn't leave much damage behind. Enjoy reading your magazines and please share any tips with us that you come across.

I guarantee that my bedroom looks worse, right now. But now I feel guilty so I am really about to throw a load of laundry in. In a couple minutes.

Last fall, I was accosted by two cute college dudes who forced me to subscribe to Rolling Stone and Ebony Magazine.

I used one of the Rolling Stone mags to wipe the snow off of my car. I have opened ONE issue since I got the subscription. Actually my mailman probably hates me because I never check my mailbox. I probably have about 4 mags stuffed in there. OOPS.

Life is too short to fold laundry!

I also have a bunch of mags I don't read. Some of them I got as a "gift" from this makeup company I purchase from occasionally. I've never been billed for those, but they try to get me to "resubscribe". And then once I entered to win a new house or something and subscribed in the process....woops!

You can get magazine subscriptions online now? I so cannot go anywhere near those! Hubster would kill me! My room kinda looks like that now! I went on a mad spring cleaning spree yesterday but I died out before I could get to the bedroom lol! Now I have to find the energy to finish! yuck!

I feel you on the messy-ness. I sometime let 'life' go for weeks. Not since my man moved in that my place has been so clutter-free. Thanks to his OCD. I still find corners to have that "lived in" feeling though. :)

Haha. My magazines have always fallen more into the realm of "home decor" than monthly reading, as well. It does put that domestic touch on your place, tho. And hey, they're cheaper than anything at Pottery Barn!

(BTW, love your Magazine in Review idea! I'd totally tune in for that.)

I have several that make good coasters. I think it makes me look stylish when I have guests over. Even though I've never spent more than 10.00 on a purse.

I used to do that and now I am down to one subscription. Luckily my folks subscribe to a bunch and give them to me when they are done!

good job on the bedroom! I stay away from the zines - I find that I don't read them and they end up being clutter...and I don't need any more of that...

You're so RIGHT. This blogging is serious work. What's the etiquette? How many blogs does one follow, how often does one comment - how does one balance all the competing demands of the blogosphere...and should I follow blogs if I don't have time to read them...and how many should I follow...HELP. Insight requested.

Sheesh, I feel you girl! I'm OVERWHELMED with blogging! I even had to un-follow a few people this week...I just cant' keep up with them all. I decided if I don't relate to them in same way and I never comment then it's not really worth following them. Is that bad?

Love the before and after pics!

Maybe you could even do a giveaway contest for your duplicate magazines! I can't imagine the postage would be very much to mail one.

Wow, I feel you on the laundry. I swear, it starts breeding as soon as you put in the basket!
